Minister of Health Prof. Hristo Hinkov will propose a moratorium on opening new hospitals until a new health map is drawn up for the needs of the medical establishments. This was announced by Minister Hinkov himself as he presented the priorities of his ministry at the parliamentary health committee. The priorities he outlined include: the introduction of a calendar of prophylactics for high-risk groups of the population, increasing the number of outpatient medical tests, developing criteria of the quality of medical services. Minister Hinkov stated another important problem that has to be looked into is the surcharges medically insured patients frequently have to pay because the Health Insurance Fund has to finance an increasing number of hospitals.
