Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has arrived on a one-day visit to this country, the government press service has announced. The Bulgarian government airplane, on board which Ukraine’s president is travelling, landed at Sofia airport minutes after 12 noon.
At the Council of Ministers, Volodymyr Zelensky is to meet with PM Nikolay Denkov, and with Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel. President Zelensky is to hold meetings also with President Rumen Radev, and with the leaderships of the parliamentary groups which submitted a draft declaration in support of Ukraine’s membership of NATO.“I will hold substantial talks with Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov, meet with President Rumen Radev, government officials, parliamentarians, politicians, and journalists. Defense support, Ukraine Euro-Atlantic integration, the NATO summit, security guarantees, and the implementation of the Peace Formula,” the Ukrainian president wrote on Twitter.
Later today, the Bulgarian prime minister and foreign minister will host a discussion with the participation of the Ukrainian president, ambassadors, politicians and representatives of civic society which will be streamed live on Facebook by the Council of Ministers.
This is Volodymyr Zelensky’s first visit to Southeastern Europe since the beginning of Russia’s war against Ukraine. There has so far been one official visit by Bulgaria to Ukraine – the visit by the then prime minister Kiril Petkov in April last year.
