On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of its founding, the "Young Mountaineer" association - Petrich set itself the goal of climbing all the highest peaks of the Bulgarian mountains, BTA reported. The initiative belongs to a group of children, with 24 peaks climbed so far. This month, the young mountaineers want to conquer the peaks of Aramlia, Ruen, Botev, Bogdan and Gotsev, and in August they will head to the peaks of Vihren and Musala.

About 40 children between the ages of 7 and 18 participate in the group and their goal is to step on all 39 mountain peaks by November. The cause of the "Young Mountaineer" association is to follow the words of writer and founder of the organized tourist movement in Bulgaria, Aleko Konstantinov - "Get to know the homeland in order to love it". Therefore, very often the association combines the climbing of peaks with historical dates. In addition to acquiring historical knowledge, children also pay attention to biodiversity and natural features in the areas they visit. Thus, in addition to love for the mountains, they also develop an attitude towards nature and the homeland.

On the occasion of this year's initiative, a personal tourist passport was created for each participant, where the children mark the conquered peaks with stickers.
