Minister of Tourism Zaritsa Dinkova called for protecting Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast from the “smear campaign” deliberately waged against the Bulgarian brand.

“It is intense and has all the markings of a hybrid campaign,” Minister Dinkova said in an interview with Nova TV. In her words, 1 million overnight stays have been registered in Bulgaria’s Black Sea resorts in the past month, 7% up on the same period of last year. “There are worries about next month, but for the time being the season is going well,” she commented.

Zaritsa Dinkova stated further she receives daily reports on the sea currents and potential pollution. “Our sea is safe, clean and risk-free,” she said, but added there are “mountains of accumulated problems” the solution of which is not up to one institution alone.
