In 2022, arms exports increased with 200% and amounted to EUR 1.6 billion. The growth in revenues is 220% compared to 2020", Bulgaria’s Minister of Economy Bogdan Bogdanov said for BNT.

2022 is the second year of the last 15 years with the highest growth of investments in Bulgaria, Minister Bogdanov went on to say. The trend continues in 2023. In the first 4 months of 2023 investments increased with 60% year- on-year. Minister Bogdanov commented that every day he meets with international investors and local companies which aim to expand their production capacity and are optimistic about the forthcoming entry of Bulgaria into Schengen and the Eurozone. The greatest interest is in the regions with developed infrastructure such as Plovdiv and Burgas. Last year the coastal city ranked first in the country in terms of attracting foreign direct investments. We are working to establish Ruse, Pleven and Vidin in Northern Bulgaria as investment centers, Minister Bogdanov added.
