The members of Bulgaria’s parliament are returning from their summer vacation today, 1 September.
They were supposed to officially start work on 7 September, but a decision was taken for their return to work earlier because of the multitude of outstanding tasks. The pressing tasks the MPs will have on their return will be the amendments to the Penal Code, possible amendments to the Election Code and the military aid for Ukraine.
Parliament is not going to sit in the old parliament building in Narodno Sabranie square, which is to be overhauled, the MPs will be going back to work in the building that used to be the Party House (the seat of the Central Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party before the democratic changes in the country) that sits between the buildings of the Presidency and the Council of Ministers. The first sitting of the National Assembly will begin with parliamentary control, during which cabinet ministers will be heard out.
