Four medals were won by Bulgarian students at the 35th International Olympiad in Informatics in Szeged, Hungary, the Natural Sciences Olympic Teams Association said.

They competed against 360 athletes from 90 countries. All four students - tenth graders Boris Mihov and Alexander Gatev from the Sofia High School of Mathematics and twelfth grader Atanas Dimitrov and tenth grader Veselin Markovic from the Varna High School of Mathematics - returned with bronze medals.

Bulgaria is the initiator of the International Informatics Olympiad. Back In 1987 Acad. Blagovest Sendov proposed the creation of an International IT Games to the 24th General Conference of UNESCO in 1987 and in 1989 the first edition was held with Bulgaria as host.
