Farmers' association unhappy with memorandum

The Bulgarian Farmers' Association has come out with a position that the memorandum signed between the protesters and the government does not fully satisfy the demand of the protesting farmers for the protection of Bulgarian agricultural production. 


"Restricting imports to sunflower seeds only is a step in the right direction, but it is not enough," the organisation said in an open letter. At this stage, it said, there is no guarantee that the proposed import quota mechanism for goods from Ukraine will work and, moreover, that it will be respected. The only working solution is could be a complete ban on imports of fruit and vegetables, meat, milk and honey from Ukraine, the Farmers' Association stressed
