Miners and energy workers will decide on how to proceed with the protests

"We want to work" and "Hands off TPP Maritsa East", read the slogans of the protesters in front of one of the largest coal-fired power plants in Bulgaria.

Trade unions are discussing larger-scale actions if the government does not withdraw the already submitted with the European Commission plans for the regional development of coal mining areas, and if the parliament's decision to renegotiate the Recovery and Resilience Plan in its energy part is not taken into account. Effective strike actions by miners and energy workers are not ruled out, said the leader of the Podkrepa trade union Dimitar Manolov after a meeting with protesters on the Trakia highway.

"We have real facts and forecasts, not political fabrications. In order to have an agreement, there must be a conversation so that everyone is heard and the best solution is found," said Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov after the failure of the negotiations.

On Saturday the trade unions rejected Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov's invitation to meet him at the Council of Ministers and later said they expected the prime minister to come to them.
