To date, 1,080 reports of violations of electoral legislation have been filed ahead of the local elections on October 29. The overwhelming majority - 635 of them - are for buying votes, Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov announced.  124 of them are for violation of citizens' political rights.

The minister explained that the price of one vote is different in different places. "It varies between 40 BGN to 150 BGN maximum," explained Stoyanov.

The chief secretary of the ministry, Zivko Kotsev, explained that the most reports so far have been submitted from the regions of Burgas, Varna, Montana, Vratsa and the capital Sofia. "The schemes are well known - a promise is made to secure a job, remittance of debts to credit institutions, pawnshops, etc., promises of firewood. These are the standard schemes", he explained.
