The tourism industry expects a successful winter season, linked not only to skiing and snow, but also to SPA and wellness recreation, to the upcoming holidays, cultural, business and sports events, Rumen Draganov, the director of the Institute for Analysis and Evaluation in Tourism, told BTA.

More than 1.7 million foreign tourists are expected to visit this country in the upcoming season, which is more in comparison to the pre-pandemic 2019. In addition, the winter trips of Bulgarians in the country will be about 3.5 million.

According to Rumen Draganov, the two military conflicts will not have an effect on the macro framework of tourism. In comparison to 2019 the rise in 2024 will be about 5 percent. Most visits are expected to be made by citizens of the European Union - 62%, followed by citizens of Great Britain and Turkey.
