Bulgaria reaffirms its unwavering support for Albania's European path and its readiness to share experience in order to accelerate the country's full integration.

This was stated by President Rumen Radev during the visit of Albanian Head of State Bajram Begai, who is on an official visit to Bulgaria. Speaking to the media, Radev underlined that over the past two years, Albania has emerged as a leading country in the Western Balkans in terms of reforms and its efforts towards European integration. Both leaders underlined that Skopje and Sofia share a common vision for the development of the region, based on the European principles of good neighbourliness and cooperation.

Radev said that Bulgaria welcomed the way in which Albania was pursuing its EU accession, respecting human rights and eliminating discrimination against minorities. The Bulgarian Head of State expressed his appreciation for the conditions created by the Albanian authorities for the citizens of Albania with Bulgarian identity to freely express their Bulgarian identity, culture and traditions.

The two Presidents strongly supported the speedy construction of Corridor 8 underlining the strategic role of the project, as part of the extended Trans-European Transport Network for the whole region.
