Five crew members of the Bulgarian ship Verila have been detained in Ireland

Five crew members of the Malta-flagged vessel Verila have been detained. 500-kilograms of cocaine were found onboard the Verila cargo ship at Shannon Foynes port in Ireland on December 20. An investigation into the case in underway. 

 The crew consisted of 17 Bulgarians and one Ukrainian. The bulk carrier, owned by the Navigation Maritime Bulgare company, was carrying wheat from Canada and set sail from Montreal on December 9.
