Weather forecast for 1 January

Slight drop in temperatures on Tuesday

Overnight, clouds will increase from the northwest and there will be drizzle in places. Light winds will blow from west-northwest. Lows will be between 0°C and 5°C, 2°C in Sofia. 

The day will start with overcast skies. Light rain will fall in places, but before noon the clouds will begin to break up from the northwest and will quickly disperse. Light to moderate westerly winds will blow, turning southwesterly in the evening. Daytime temperatures will drop slightly, with highs between 7°C and 12°C, 8°C in Sofia.

Over the mountains it will be mostly cloudy with snow showers, rain below 1200-1300 m. After noon the clouds will begin to break. Strong westerly winds will blow in the higher parts of Rila and Pirin. The maximum temperature will be around 5°C at 1,200 m, around 0°C at 2,000 m.

Over the Black Sea it will be cloudy with light rain. Later in the afternoon, the cloud cover will begin to break up and decrease. Maximum temperatures will be 9°-12°C and sea water temperatures will be 9°-10°C. The sea swell will be 1-2.
