By next week, the government and the dissatisfied farmers are to sign an agreement on additional subsidies, it transpired after a meeting between the National Grain Producers Association, the Bulgarian Agrarian Chamber, Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov and the Ministers of Finance and Agriculture. Farmers want to receive the so-called ''Ukrainian aid'' amounting to more than EUR 210 million for 2024.

There has been a EUR 250 million increase in the agricultural sector budget compared to the previous year. ‘’It should be clear what exactly is defined as critical areas and which are the most affected sectors", Premier Denkov said after the meeting. "By next Tuesday, we need to clear sector by sector, set the rates and have everything documented", said the Chairman of the National Grain Producers Association Iliya Prodanov.
