PM Nikolai Denkov: Budget 2024 brings us closer to the euro and the European way of life

The government has adopted a decree on the implementation of the state budget, setting out guidelines for ministries, state institutions and municipalities to follow in implementing their policies. 

"The 2024 budget brings us closer to the euro and the European way of life, because there is a way to be financially responsible without it being at the expense of people and businesses," said Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov. 

He also pointed to a nearly 20% increase in the minimum wage (BGN 933 = EUR 478.5) and announced that salaries in the state administration would be adjusted retroactively to 1 January, with effect from the end of February. In addition, the welfare package has been substantially increased, including additional funding for child protection and support.
