Margarita Stoykova is among the ten shooting stars of the Berlinale. She received the award of the prestigious European film festival for her role in Yana Titova's film "Diada". The Shooting Stars Awards are presented by the pan-European network organization European Film Promotion (EFP).
Since 1998, the EFP has annually celebrated the achievements of young actors from around the world. Several hundred actors have received the award. Among them are names like Daniel Craig, Alicia Vikander, Rachel Weisz, Carey Mulligan and others.
“Balancing vulnerability and maturity, Stoykova portrays a multifaceted character exceptionally well. Initially appearing unsympathetic, her character gradually reveals layers of fragility,” the reasons of the five-member jury read. Bulgarian European Commissioner Iliana Ivanova was also present at the award ceremony.
