Yordanka Chobanova takes over EC Representation in Bulgaria

Yordanka Chobanova has officially taken over as Head of the European Commission's Permanent Representation in Bulgaria. She succeeds Ognian Zlatev, who held the post until mid-2019. 

From 2016 to 2021, Ms Chobanova served as Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Slovak Republic. Prior to that, she held several key positions in Bulgaria, including Advisor on European Affairs to President Rosen Plevneliev and Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works. From 2008 to 2012, she also served as Attaché for Regional Policy at the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Bulgaria to the EU in Brussels. Between 2021 and 2024, she worked as an expert in the European Commission's Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.
