CEC ready for two-in-one vote

If the European Parliament and National Assembly elections are held on different dates, there must be at least two or three weeks between the two votes in order to organise the electoral process smoothly and avoid tensions, which would be difficult to achieve for a number of reasons.

At a meeting with President Rumen Radev, the Chairperson of the Central Election Commission, Kamelia Neykova, pointed out that the CEC would be able to organise two elections in one, which would be the most appropriate from a technological and economic point of view.

Public tendering for the European Parliament elections began on 15 March. There is no legal possibility to change it to two-in-one. In addition, a technological period of between 25 and 30 days is required to carry out the procedure legally. A new tender will therefore be launched.
