Sofia District Governor Vyara Todeva sent a letter to caretaker Premier Dimitar Glavchev. Todeva demanded that more than 2.5 million Leva (EUR 1.27 million) be provided for the restoration and conservation of the dismantled figures and bas-reliefs from the Monument to the Soviet Army. In her letter to Premier Glavchev, she proposes that approximately 510,000 Leva (EUR 260,000) be allocated this year, and the remaining 2 million Leva (EUR 1 million)- in 2025.
Vyara Todeva has also submitted a conceptual project to the Ministry of Culture for the placement of the figures and bas-reliefs in the Museum of Socialist Art. Currently, they are being kept in the village of Lozen near Sofia.
Meanwhile, it became clear that the Supreme Administrative Court left without consideration the appeal of Vazrazhdane party against the Sofia District Governor regarding the dismantling and the removal of the Monument to the Soviet Army. A day earlier, the supreme magistrates overturned another decision on the same case. According to the Supreme Administrative Court, the ruling of the Sofia City Administrative Court regarding the appeal by the association Stand Up.BG for stopping the dismantling of the monument is unlawful.
