From 27 to 29 June, Sofia will be the Wine Capital of the Balkans. The 13th edition of the Balkan Wine Festival will welcome guests to the Wine Town in front of the National Palace of Culture. Visitors will be able to taste thousands of wines from the Balkans, including the winners of the prestigious wine competition. This year, for the first time, it will be held in two countries - Bulgaria and Turkey, Galina Niforu, director of the festival and president of the Bulgarian Winemaking & Export Association, told BNR.

"The Grand Trophy this year was won by a Serbian winery with a white wine, and this is the second time in these 13 years that a white wine has won, which is quite unusual," Niforu added.

During the Balkan Wine Festival, visitors will be able to sample delicacies from various national cuisines while enjoying jazz music and art in the open air.
