Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Lyudmila Petkova assured that the technical preparations for the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria are progressing well. She was attending the meeting of EU Finance and Economic Ministers - ECOFIN - in Brussels.

Petkova emphasised that Bulgaria will request extraordinary convergence reports as soon as the last criterion, price stability, is met. She underlined the importance of a prompt readiness assessment by the European institutions and a Council decision setting a concrete accession date, which would ensure predictability for businesses.

Petkova also stressed in her speech that support for Ukraine should remain a priority for the EU.
