Weather forecast for 18 July

Scorching heat: Code Red remains in place across the country

Thursday will be sunny and very hot. After midday, clouds will develop in northern and western parts of the country, with winds, heavy rain and thunderstorms in places. Minimum temperatures will be between 19 and 25°C, 20°C in Sofia. Highs will be 37-42°C, 37°C in the capital. 

The Black Sea coast will experience sunny weather with moderate winds from the north-east. Air temperatures will reach 32-36°C. Sea temperatures will be 27-29°C with a swell of 2. 

Over the mountains it will be sunny with clouds and local showers in the afternoon. Maximum temperatures will reach 33°C at 1,200 m and 24°C at 2,000 m.

Temperatures will fall on Friday and Saturday. The atmospheric pattern will become more unstable, leading to afternoon showers with a risk of hail.
