Bulgarian President Rumen Radev congratulated the president and the citizens of the Republic of North Macedonia on the occasion of the national holiday - Republic Day, marked on Ilinden (St. Elijah day).
"The self-sacrifice of the heroes of the Ilinden-Preobrazhenie Uprising carries through time the memory, which will forever connect Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia and their citizens," Rumen Radev said in his congratulatory address. According to him, the high ideals of the uprising stand at the basis of the values of united Europe today.
Rumen Radev points out that our common European future requires will and a sincere approach in the implementation of the Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighborliness and Cooperation from 2017, as well as that Bulgaria remains determined to work on building good neighbourly relations with North Macedonia and to provide support for fulfilment of the agreed criteria for EU membership.
