Heavy traffic at the border with Romania at the Danube Bridge border crossing

Heavy traffic of cars and trucks is reported today at the Danube Bridge border crossing at Ruse, BTA announced. The border crossing point specified that the cars are fewer compared to the previous days, but after Wednesday the traffic is expected to be busier again in view of the fact that August 15 and 16 are holidays in Romania.

There is always a wait between Ruse and Giurgiu, said international driver Plamen Petrov, who crosses the Danube Bridge at least once a week in both directions.

"Today I was in the parking lot for two hours and now I have been queuing for two and a half hours at the border crossing. Maybe the repair of the bridge is having an impact, but it is still better, because last week it was a 20-hour wait each way. We are constantly late with deliveries and when we are late, we have to wait another day until they unload us," Petrov said.

А major overhaul of the Bulgarian section of the 70-year-old facility began on July 10. In the last twenty-four hours, 1,040 trucks exited Bulgaria and 900 entered.
