Weather forecast for 29 August

Heavy rain with thunderstorms

During the night, the precipitation will stop and the clouds will break up temporarily, with clear skies after midnight over Western Bulgaria. Light to moderate winds will blow from west-northwest.

On Thursday, cumulus and rain clouds will develop before noon over eastern Bulgaria and after noon over the rest of the country. In many places in the Ludogorie and mountainous regions there will be short, temporarily intense rain showers accompanied by thunderstorms. There is also a risk of hail. 

Winds will come from the north-north-east, mostly moderate. Maximum temperatures will be in a wide range: from 23°-25°C in north-eastern Bulgaria to 29°-31°C in western Bulgaria and the Upper Thracian Lowlands. In Sofia, the maximum temperature will be around 27°C.

The Black Sea coast will be cloudy. On the northern coast, there will be short and intense showers accompanied by thunderstorms before noon. In the afternoon, the rain front will also move across the south.  Winds will be moderate from the north-northeast. Maximum temperatures will be between 24° and 27°C - slightly lower than the sea temperatures which will still be 27°-29°C. Sea swell will be 2-3.

Cumulus clouds will develop over the mountains and there will be short showers in many places, accompanied by thunder and a temporary increase in wind. There is also a chance of hail. Winds will be moderate from the north-northeast, with gusts in higher and more exposed areas. Maximum temperatures will be around 20°C at 1,200 metres and around 14°C at 2,000 metres.
