The electronic application for voting abroad is now active

The electronic application for voting abroad in the early parliamentary elections on October 27 is now active, reported BTA. According to the Electoral Code, polling stations abroad are established in Bulgarian diplomatic and consular missions if at least 40 applications for voting abroad are submitted. On the basis of on the total number of applications submitted or the total number of voters in previous elections, including when the number of applications submitted for a particular location is less than 40, the heads of diplomatic missions may send a reasoned proposal to the Central Election Commission for opening polling stations no later than 22 days before the election day. The law also stipulates that Bulgarian citizens’ organizations can make proposals for the locations of polling stations to the heads of our diplomatic missions no later than October 1 this year.

The Central Election Commission must determine the number of polling stations and voting locations abroad by October 5.
