Corridor No. 8 remains a common strategic goal for Sofia and Tirana

In New York, within the autumn session of the UN General Assembly, Bulgaria's caretaker Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov met with the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania, Igli Hasani. Both expressed readiness to activate cooperation in all spheres of common interest. 

Kondov confirmed Sofia's support for Albania's accession to the EU and welcomed Tirana's efforts to strengthen regional cooperation. 

The two confirmed that the accelerated construction of Corridor No. 8 from the Adriatic to the Black Sea is a common strategic goal. 
Special emphasis is placed on the role of the Bulgarian national minority in Albania as an important bridge of friendship and a factor for strengthening trust. Kondov expressed satisfaction with the organization and conduct of the population census in Albania and the opportunity given to the Bulgarian community to freely declare their identity, the Foreign Ministry announced.
