2024 is the best year since tourism statistics have been in existence – revenues, accommodation, number of tourists and tourist registrations, number of border checkpoint crossings, caretaker Minister of Tourism Evtim Miloshev said. Yet resorts still face major problems, he said in an interview with public service TV BNT. In the most popular seaside resort Sunny Beach there are issues connected with ownership and organization. “We talk about the season, but the rest of the time the hotel stands empty,” hotel operators say, Minister Miloshev commented. Because the international situation is so complicated the profile of the tourists has changed. “We no longer have Russian, Ukrainian, and to a great extent Israeli tourists. The prices have changed because of the inflation. The season must be extended towards spring and autumn. With the climate changes, autumn is growing more attractive for tourism, Evtim Miloshev said.
