Statistics show a sharp drop in annual inflation in the country

Inflation in Bulgaria slowed down in September to 1.2 percent from 2.1 percent in August, hitting the lowest level since March 2021, data from the National Statistics Institute showed. Compared to August, there is a deflation of 1%, after the 8th month of the year, the consumer price index rose by 0.1% compared to July.

The sharp deceleration of annual inflation in September was due to a weaker increase in prices in health care, in the restaurant and hotel business. Transport costs also decrease in the field of "entertainment and culture". However, inflation increased slightly for food, beverages and tobacco products.

The peak of inflation in Bulgaria was in September 2022, when it reached 18.7 percent on an annual basis.

By reducing inflation, Bulgaria is getting closer to the criteria for entering the Eurozone.
