Autumn gives a special charm to the village of Leshten, hidden in the slopes of the western Rhodopes. Its stone walls stand out at the backdrop of the feast of colors in nature around and preserve the cosiness of the Bulgarian home. Eleonora Tropankova from BNR-Blagoevgrad offers us a photo walk to this picturesque Bulgarian village.
It is located in south-western Bulgaria. After reaching the town of Gotse Delchev, we must turn left from the road that leads to the border with Greece at the village of Ilinden. We have 14 kilometers to go up the mountain as Leshten is located at 1093 meters above sea level.
Today Leshten is one of the preferred destinations for rural tourism in Bulgaria.
The restored old houses offer characteristic atmosphere from the times of the National Revival, combined with modern comfort.
The houses in Leshten have picturesque yards and spacious verandas, from which an unforgettable view of the majestic Pirin is revealed.
Just 200 km away from the hectic rhythm of Sofia, one immerses in the timelessness of the past, as this corner of Bulgaria preserves the authentic spirit of the Bulgarian way of life and traditions.
