The Sofia City Court has suspended the case against MECH leader Radostin Vasilev, on the grounds that he had acquired immunity after taking his oath as an MP in the 51st National Assembly.

Vasilev was accused of putting pressure on former There Is Such a People MP Hristinka Ivanova in 2023, and of trying to force her to leave her parliamentary group.

Radostin Vasilev did not appear in court today, where prosecutor Yordan Petrov argued that the case should be suspended because the defendant now had parliamentary immunity.

For the case to proceed, acting Prosecutor-General Borislav Sarafov must ask the National Assembly to lift the MP's immunity.
