GERB leader Boyko Borissov denied that there was pressure from the leader of DPS-New Beginning, sanctioned under the global Magnitsky Act, Delyan Peevski, to be in power. He expressed confidence in the future of the cabinet due to the responsibility of the coalition partners from the BSP, ITN and DPS-DPS around Ahmed Dogan and "Peevski's desire not to overthrow the state".
"When Peevski supported the Denkov cabinet, it was good, when he supported the changes to the Constitution, it was good, and now we have to go into early elections, if the DPS around Dogan start to leave. I hope they will not do it, but the goal of the eurozone is extremely important to us," Borissov said when asked about the support of Peevski and "DPS-New Beginning" on key issues.
Borissov recalled his comment from a few days ago about the Constitutional Court's decision on the results of the last parliamentary elections in October 2024, that "something so fragile, created with so much effort (the government), is now about to be brought down." After the court's decision, the votes in parliament in support of the ruling party decreased from 126 to 121, which is a majority by 1 vote.
