A true Bulgarian-British music holiday is to take place in one of the most prestigious concert halls in the British capital on 20 May. As we learned from the team of the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in London, a concert tonight will bring together 78 world-renowned Bulgarian and British musicians who will perform Bulgarian musical works. Among the selected repertoire are compositions of Bulgarian classical composers, modern pieces, ethno-jazz and authentic Bulgarian folklore. The event is held under the patronage of the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture.
We learn more about the program to be presented tonight by Bulgarian pianist and conductor Ivan Yanakov talking to Radio Bulgaria.
It is expected that with this concert, the Bulgarian Cultural Institute London to contribute to the deepening of cultural relations between Bulgaria and the United Kingdom. The two countries will also be partners in the "Presidency Trio" of the EU Council in 2018.
Also, the traditional awards of the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture will be presented during the concert. They are awarded to individuals who have contributed to the popularization of Bulgarian culture in the UK. Another participant in the concert will be the orchestra London Chamber Players whose conductor for the past five years has been Ivan Yanakov. The musicians will perform works of Bulgarian Grammy-nominated composer Dobrinka Tabakova, created especially for the occasion.
