Austria, Germany and Romania top travelling destinations for Bulgarians in June

565,000 Bulgarians travelled abroad in June 2016, or 20.7 percent up on June 2015, the National Statistical Institute has announced. The increase is biggest in the number of Bulgarian nationals travelling to Austria – 99.2 percent, Germany – 50.8 percent and Romania – 23.3 percent. At the same time visits to Russia have dropped by 6.3 percent, to Turkey by 2 percent and to France by 1.6 percent. In June a total of 1,355,000 foreign nationals visited Bulgaria, 19.5 percent more than in June 2015, with EU citizens accounting for 61.4 percent of visits or 27.5 percent more than in June 2015. There is an 11.5 percent increase in the number of visits from countries outside the EU, the growth rate being highest for Ukraine – 21.9 percent.
