Bulgaria is expected to make about 160 million liters of wine from his year’s grape harvest and is set to export 60 million liters, said Minister of Agriculture and Food Desislava Taneva in Plovdiv during the start of the grape harvesting campaign. She said that grapes had fine quality and expected yields would be around and a little above last year’s ones. According to Taneva the sector suggests that Bulgaria is able to grow fine grapes, make good wines and export them to good markets. In the recent years Bulgaria has been exporting wine mostly to Russia, China and Great Britain. Every year sees an increase in vineyard areas. This year vineyards will increase by new 600 ha. Wine quantities have also seen a steady increase. Nineteen new wineries are in the process of construction and so far they are by 263 more than last year, Minister Taneva said.
