The global trend of craft-brewing has also been going strong in Bulgaria for several years now and this is a country known with its wine and rakia traditions. Gourmet Publishing, who are organizers of the first ever in Bulgaria Craft Beer Taste event, rely on similarities between craft-brewing and making good wine. The forum takes place on December 15 in Sofia.

The event is indicative of the development of beer culture in this country in recent years. Importers of products by the world's best breweries and almost all Bulgarian craft brewers take part in it. A common feature between them in addition to the supreme quality of beer they produce is the average age of brewers - between 30 and 40 years. The most ambitious among them are even younger, as well as their fans.

Another distinctive feature is making investments and helping in establishing communities involved in spreading the values of craft brewing.

In a study "Beer Connects Europe with the World,” the most prestigious professional organization in the industry, Brewers of Europe also draws attention to the sustainable trend of opening new small and micro breweries on the territory of the EU. Compared to 2010 their number has doubled, and in Bulgaria at the moment their number is already greater than that of large breweries.

Visitors to the Craft Beer Taste in Sofia have fully proved the words of President of The Brewers of Europe, Pavlos Photiades, that "smaller brewers are better at reaching new generations easily.”
