Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview for Izvestia newspaper that NATO maneuvers in regions near the Russian border, including deployment of additional NATO military contingents in Poland and the Baltic countries, are provocative. Recently, the NATO allies have been holding discussions on possible presence on the territory of other countries in Eastern Europe, especially in Romania and Bulgaria, Minister Lavrov pointed out. In Sergey Lavrov’s view, the plans of some NATO member states to modernize their armed forces and build a new military infrastructure are also provocation.
