On June 1, Children's Day, citizens, non-governmental organizations, doctors and public figures set up an initiative committee calling for establishing a National Pediatric Hospital in Sofia.
In a call to the President, the Speaker of the Parliament and the Government, initiators said that Bulgaria was the only European country with no national pediatric hospital and doctors working with children were scattered in more than 14 different hospitals in the capital city.
