Organic farmers protesting in Sofia, calling for resignation of agriculture minister

Organic producers have been protesting downtown Sofia calling for the resignation of Minister of Agriculture Rumen Porozhanov. Their dissatisfaction is caused by a new regulation on organic products, introducing stricter requirements for producers and companies that certify them. According to the farmers, they were not consulted about the changes, which they say would lead to the bankruptcy of the sector. They insist on setting up an advisory council on organic farming to discuss problems in the sector.
