The blockade of the main road Sliven - Yambol, southeastern Bulgaria, in the area of the village of Krushare continues for the fourth day as pig farmers are protesting. The protest is against the requirement by the veterinary authorities for culling domestic pigs because of the spread of African swine fever, although there are no cases of the disease in the Sliven region. There are 3,994 animals raised in two industrial pig farms in the area. The number of pigs of households with “backyard farms” totals 5,140.
