Bulgaria’s government is to create a national mechanism for monitoring of the fight against corruption, organized crime, judicial reform and rule of law. The measure is under the recommendation of the European Commission within the frameworks of the Mechanism for Cooperation and Verification. The monitoring will be assigned to a council for coordination and cooperation. The institutions whose activities fall under the abovementioned fields will provide information on the progress in them. The council will work in accordance with the principles of the separation of powers. The participation of the non-executive bodies in the council is voluntary and is an expression of cooperation and dialogue between the institutions, the resolution reads. A civil council will be established with the newly-created council.
