Commenting on concerns that some Bulgarians coming from abroad are not being screened for infection with the new Covid-19 coronavirus, National Health Inspector Dr. Angel Kunchev said that many people have symptoms of flu during the flu season, but this should not be a reason to panic.

At airports there are devices for quick screening of patients, but not all passengers notice them. Suspicions that the monitoring system was not working because some passenger returning from Italy did not see the thermal cameras or were not called for a medical check are not justified. Border inspection teams have sufficient number of devices for rapid high-sensitivity screening. There are enough tests for the disease in Bulgaria, but not all of the arriving passengers come from risk areas, and not everyone has to be tested, the national health inspector added.
