Bulgaria is still coping well with pandemic
Covid-19 continues to exist and it is deadly. Nobody knows what would happen in the autumn. In addition to Covid-19, there will be seasonal flu, too, Dr Skender Syla, WHO Representative for Bulgaria has told NovaTV. When we have small outbreaks in more regions of the country, the number of infected is growing and this is happening not only in Bulgaria but also in Europe after the easing of measures. This is the start of the new normal and we must be disciplined and responsible. This is the key to preventing a new spread. If we compare the total number of cases based on 100, 1,000 or 1 million people, Bulgaria is still doing very well compared to other countries in the world, the WHO representative added.
Doctors call for health protocol-algorithm for patients with coronavirus
The Bulgarian Medical Association has called on the Ministry of Health and the National Health Insurance Fund to introduce an accurate protocol-algorithm in relation to patients with possible coronavirus infection. All patients must be pre-tested with a PCR test for SARS-CoV-2 before going to hospital. It is not right for the for tests to be paid by the hospitals or by patients, Dr. Stoyan Borisov, Secretary General of the Bulgarian Medical Association, has told BNR. He explained that none of the tests that are carried out give a 100% guarantee, but the screening will protect hospitals from the epidemic, because if the coronavirus spread to hospitals, it would create difficulties to the health-care system.
