“In recent weeks the age of the people contracting Covid-19 in the country has been going down. But the high-risk group continue to be patients aged over 65 with underlying diseases,” commented Chief State Health Inspector Assoc. Prof. Angel Kunchev for bTV.

“Half of the new patients treated in hospital are under 65. There are now more and more patients with a severe clinical picture who do not have underlying diseases. The number of tests which return positive continues at around 5%,” Angel Kunchev said and expressed concern that we are nearing the critical threshold of hospitalizations.  There are 699 patients in hospital at the moment. If their number reaches 1,000 the health system will be in trouble. Angel Kunchev stated that even then no return to the previous restrictive measures is to be expected.
