The measure for subsidizing charter flights in order to save the summer tourist season in Bulgaria is late, tour operators from Burgas claim. They call for more flexibility in supporting tourism, for subsidizing bus transport and for starting the preparation for the winter season from now.
"The expected more than 400,000 tourists this year will not come. In August, the issue with two large markets - Russia and Great Britain - has not been resolved ", claims the chairman of the Tourist Chamber in Burgas Ivan Ivanov.
About 1,500 charter flights are planned at the airport in Burgas. Most of them are from Germany and Russia. Germany, however, is preparing to limit travel to Bulgaria due to the situation with the coronavirus here, flights from Russia are being cancelled. Only tourists from Ukraine are growing - 2,217 this year compared to 534 in 2019, BNR correspondent Daniela Kostadinova reports from Burgas.
