The general hospital in Burgas on the Black Sea is insisting on having a permanent police post in front of the emergency room at night.
The reason is the increasing number of incidents involving aggression by patients or their relatives, including attacks on medical staff at night. The medical staff are working under constant stress and in fear. The police have been called in several times this weekend alone.
“If our colleagues quit, Burgas will be left without emergency doctors and without an emergency unit,” commented the head of the ER Dr. Zdravka Indzhova, BNR-Burgas reports.
