B-52 bombers fly in NATO mission over Bulgaria

Photo: dnevnik

Bulgaria is one of the countries over which 4 US B-52 Stratofortress strategic bomber aircraft flew on August 28. They are part of NATO's Allied Sky mission, which demonstrates the ability to operate freely in the airspace of North America and Europe.

The planes took off from the Royal Air Force Fairford based in the UK and integrated with the local air force on their way over all 28 NATO allies in Europe.

Along the route they are accompanied by over 80 fighter aircraft from 20 member states, including Bulgarian MIG-29
This shows the solidarity in NATO for improving combat readiness and providing training opportunities for more effective joint work of all crews, the Alliance said.
