As of today, six American F-16 fighters are joining the protection of the Bulgarian airspace, Bulgaria's Ministry of Defence has announced. The flying machines took part in the Thracian Cinderella 2020 exercise and will remain in Bulgaria until the end of October.

This is not the first time that planes from NATO countries have helped protect the airspace in Bulgaria.
According to President Rumen Radev, the full combat duty with the purchased and still expected new American fighters will be able to take place in 5 years at the earliest. Until then, the Russian MiG-29s will be used.
