Fewer foreign tourists are expected to visit the ski resort of Bansko this winter season. There are almost no prepaid reservations and a British tour operator has announced that it is suspending charters from Great Britain to Bulgaria due to travel restrictions caused by the coronavirus, BNT reported.
The tourist industry in the resort will rely on tourists from Bulgaria and neighboring Romania, Turkey and Greece. Some of the hotels in Bansko, which are owned by British, will not open.
"We are talking about a 97% drop in British tourist reservations. I will change my business - we will open the restaurant and bar, but my hotel will stay closed," said British hotelier James Hughes.
